For several years I haven’t heard the word: “Minority” bandied about as much as I have during this election deason. As a woman of colour, I became comfortable in not referring to myself or to any other person of color as a minority
Oddly, through over the past several onth the word: :Minority” had been more visible and audible in the news.
Whereas reporters would once refer the \African American and Hispanic” community, now I hear ‘Minority’ used in its stead.
I feel as emotionally drained, as the feeling I have after watching a film by Danish director Lars Von trier.
Empty, Hollow and Betrayed are the words that best describe the way that I feel.
Where once I was an uplifter, a spirit soaring.
Now I find myself fending off the word: “Minority.”
